Why a Training Path Stays Stuck in "Pending" After an Employee Finishes It

The problem: An employee completes every chapter and quiz in a training path, but it stays marked "In Progress" or "Pending Evaluation" instead of issuing a completion certificate.

Why this happens: The training path has a toggle called "Skill evaluation by supervisor is mandatory" turned on. When it's on, a supervisor or admin has to manually sign off on the employee's skill evaluation before the path can mark complete — quizzes and chapters alone aren't enough.

How to fix it (for a path already stuck):

  1. Go to the training path and check whether "Skill evaluation by supervisor is mandatory" is enabled.
  2. Have the designated supervisor/admin complete the sign-off/evaluation step — this is what releases the "Pending" status.

How to avoid it going forward:

  • Important: once a training path is published/active, this toggle cannot be edited. If you don't actually want mandatory supervisor sign-off, you can't just switch it off after the fact.
  • The current workaround is to duplicate the training path and remove/disable the supervisor evaluation requirement on the new copy, then reassign employees to the duplicate.

Common mistake: Turning this toggle on without realizing it's locked in permanently, then finding out employees are stuck weeks later.
